SUPSI Image Focus

Technological education and research play a fundamental role in shaping economic and social progress. At SUPSI, the Department of Innovative Technologies stands out for its forward-looking approach and its ability to anticipate emerging challenges. Through an
interdisciplinary approach, it advances innovation in sustainability, robotics,
digitalisation, AI and health technologies, while preparing
the next generation of professionals to navigate and lead a rapidly evolving world.

The Department of Innovative Technologies offers Bachelor’s and Master of Science in Engineering programmes recognised at both federal and European level. The programmes, strongly practice-oriented, integrate laboratory activities with internships and projects carried out in collaboration with companies and institutions in the region.

and Master's degree programmes in Engineering programmes that are recognized at both Swiss and European level. Strongly practice-oriented, the programmes combine laboratory activities, internships and projects developed in collaboration with companies and institutions, providing students with opportunities to engage directly with professional and technological contexts.

Continuing Education at the Department of Innovative Technologies supports professionals, companies and organisations in updating their skills in the fields of engineering and digital technologies. Developed in response to evolving market trends and needs, the educational offer includes certified programmes, short courses and tailored solutions designed to support digital innovation and organisational transformation processes.

More than 4,000 hours of training delivered confirm the role of Continuing Education in promoting up-to-date skills and supporting innovation across professional contexts.

Through its tailored training programmes, the Department supports companies and organisations in developing skills and methodologies focused on continuous improvement, process innovation and digital transformation. Activities include customised courses, methodological support, coaching and hands-on interventions based on real business cases, contributing to organisational growth and strengthening organisations’ ability to respond to technological and market change.

The Centre supports professionals and organisations through research, education
and consulting activities, promoting innovative and sustainable approaches to Project Management. Its activities focus on agile, distributed and value-driven project management, with particular attention to the integration of artificial intelligence and the transformation of organisational contexts.

The Startup Garage, created within the Department of Innovative
Technologies and open to the entire SUPSI student community
as well as external participants from across Switzerland,
provides a collaborative environment for the development
of entrepreneurial ideas and innovative projects. By combining
mentoring, coaching and interdisciplinary exchange, the initiative
brings together students, academic staff and professionals,
fostering experimentation, innovation and the development
of entrepreneurial competencies.

SUPSI Image Focus

In 2025, the Department of Innovative Technologies expanded into the new Boscioro Building, located just 150 metres from the main East Campus site. The new facilities host specialised research and teaching laboratories dedicated to robotics, mechanical design and industrial technologies, further strengthening the infrastructure supporting education and applied research.
